4 days desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga desert

Your journey begins as your driver greets you at your riad in Marrakech. From there, we embark on a scenic drive through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi N’Tichka Pass (2,260m), the highest road pass in Morocco. The panoramic views of the snow-capped mountains and vast landscapes will leave you in awe. Our first stop is the extraordinary Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site perched on a hilltop. This ancient fortified village, famous for its earthen clay structures, has been featured in several Hollywood films such as Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones. We’ll explore the kasbah’s winding, narrow streets and climb to the top for panoramic views of the surrounding area. After lunch in Ait Ben Haddou village, we continue along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing through Skoura Oasis, where centuries-old palm groves and kasbahs create a stunning backdrop. We then travel through the beautiful Rose Valley, known for its Damask roses and the famous annual Rose Festival. The final leg of our journey takes us to the Dades Valley, a natural wonder carved by the Dades River over centuries. We will arrive at our hotel/riad for a relaxing dinner and overnight stay.

After a delicious breakfast, we head towards the Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s most dramatic natural landscapes. The 300-meter-high cliffs of the gorge create an awe-inspiring sight, and at its narrowest point, the gorge is only 20 meters wide. It’s a popular spot for hikers and rock climbers, and we’ll have time to explore its breathtaking beauty. Next, we continue towards Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Upon arrival, your camel guide will greet you and lead you on an unforgettable camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes. As the sun begins to set, we’ll ride for approximately 1 hour into the desert, arriving at your desert camp under the stars. At the camp, you’ll be welcomed with traditional mint tea before enjoying a delicious Berber dinner. The evening is yours to enjoy—stargazing, listening to live Berber music, or even trying sandboarding on the dunes. For the true desert experience, you can sleep in a traditional nomadic tent or under the open sky.

After waking early to witness the spectacular sunrise over the dunes, we will have breakfast before returning to Merzouga by camel. Once refreshed, we set off towards Rissani, a historic town once known for its significance in caravan trade routes. We continue through the stunning Saghro Mountains, a volcanic range offering a stark contrast to the Atlas Mountains. The landscape here is equally breathtaking, with dramatic rock formations and barren vistas. From there, we enter the Draa Valley, famous for its endless palm groves and ancient kasbahs. We’ll arrive in Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Hollywood of Africa,” and settle into a comfortable riad for the night.

After a hearty breakfast, we begin our journey back to Marrakech. We’ll pass through the picturesque Tizi N’Tichka Pass once again, offering more opportunities to enjoy the incredible views of the surrounding Berber villages and mountain landscapes. Your tour will end in Marrakech, where you can choose to be dropped off at your riad, hotel, or airport, concluding a truly unforgettable experience
