3-day desert tour from Fes to Merzouga

Your adventure begins at 8:00 AM as we depart Fes, journeying through the stunning Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first stop is Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” known for its alpine-style architecture. We then continue to Azrou, a famous handicraft center specializing in cedar woodwork, where you may encounter Barbary monkeys in the nearby cedar forests. After a scenic drive, we arrive in Midelt for lunch before heading south through the breathtaking Ziz Valley, known for its lush palm groves and dramatic rock formations. As we reach Merzouga, you’ll experience the enchanting Erg Chebbi dunes. Enjoy a traditional dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel at the base of the golden dunes.

After breakfast, immerse yourself in the unique culture of the Sahara. We begin with a visit to Khamlia village, where you’ll enjoy the rhythms of live Gnawa music performed by local musicians. Continuing along an off-road track, we explore the vast dunes and stop for tea with a nomadic Berber family, offering a glimpse into their traditional way of life. For lunch, savor an authentic Berber pizza before returning to the hotel to relax. Later, embark on an unforgettable camel trek into the dunes, where you’ll witness a magical Sahara sunset. As night falls, arrive at a desert camp, where you’ll experience traditional Berber hospitality, enjoy a delicious dinner, and sleep in a nomadic tent beneath the star-filled sky.

Rise early to witness the breathtaking desert sunrise before riding your camel back to the hotel for breakfast and a refreshing shower. We then begin our return journey, retracing our path through the scenic Ziz Valley and passing through the cedar forests of Azrou, home to Barbary monkeys. A stop in Midelt allows for a relaxing lunch before we continue through the Middle Atlas, arriving in Fes by late afternoon. We’ll drop you off at your accommodation in this historic imperial city, founded by Moulay Idriss I in 789 and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
